About Me – The Romanian Nomad

I was born in a land where myth and history walk side by side.

A land of medieval citadels and painted monasteries, of shadowed forests and gothic castles where legends still whisper through the mountains. A land where the stories of voivods and kings mingle with darker chapters—war, fascism, and the long shadow of communism that shaped the country I grew up in. I was born in Romania.

Medieval walls and tower of Râșnov Citadel surrounded by dense Carpathian forest in Brașov County, Transylvania, Romania.
Historic Peleș Castle in Sinaia, Romania, a Neo-Renaissance royal palace in the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania.
View of the iconic Sighișoara Clock Tower above historic buildings and cobblestone street inside the medieval citadel of Sighișoara, Transylvania, Romania.

In my twenties, I left that land behind to see the world. Until then, my life had been rooted in Romanian traditions, family, and a culture that runs deep like the roots of an ancient oak. Traveling beyond those borders felt like stepping into another universe—one filled with unfamiliar languages, customs, and ways of seeing the world.

And yet, no matter how far I wander, Romania remains the quiet center of my compass.

Every time I return home to visit my large, loving family, something inside me settles. It feels like touching a root buried deeper than memory itself. A reminder of where I began. A reminder that wandering only matters if you know where you come from.

It is from those roots that my wings grew.

And so I wander.

A Love Story Between Worlds

One of the most unexpected turns in my journey began when I met my husband. He had been deployed to Romania for a year, and what might have been a passing romance slowly unfolded into something much deeper.

Two people from different countries, cultures, and worlds learning how to build a life together.

Our multicultural love story has been filled with laughter, misunderstandings, discoveries, and growth. It has taught me that the most meaningful journeys are not always across oceans or continents, but across the invisible borders that separate our lives from those of others.

It continues to shape the way I see the world—and the stories I choose to tell.

Travel couple visiting Machu Picchu in Peru, overlooking the ancient Inca ruins in the Andes Mountains.
Couple enjoying a romantic moment overlooking Tokyo skyline and Rainbow Bridge at night from a hotel room in Japan.
Bride and groom kissing in a garden during an outdoor wedding ceremony with flowers and greenery.

Why I Created The Romanian Nomad

The Romanian Nomad was born from a simple truth: travel changes us.

It stretches our sense of belonging. It dissolves the idea of borders. It reminds us that the world is vast, mysterious, and endlessly beautiful.

Through this blog, I share stories from the road—stories of places, cultures, food, and the small moments that transform the way we see ourselves.

Here you will find:

  • travel stories from across the world

  • reflections on Romanian heritage and traditions

  • hidden gastronomic gems and food discoveries

  • essays about identity, culture, and life between worlds

Because travel is not only about places.

It is about people.
About memories.
About the quiet transformation that happens when we step outside the familiar.

Stories of Roots and Wandering

The Romanian Nomad is a place for those who love stories—stories of distant landscapes, family traditions, unexpected encounters, and the quiet magic that travel brings into our lives.

Here you will find reflections on faraway cities, forgotten villages, shared meals, cultural rituals, and the strange, beautiful ways the world connects us all.

Because in the end, no matter how far we wander, we all carry two things with us:

the roots that ground us
and the wings that call us forward.
